As the year draws to an end and we all slow down it's nice to look through photos that I have done but which have slipped through the net. A couple more here, one with a nod to Moholy-Nagy and the second using a couple of bits of nature. Simple but slightly ethereal.

A full moon in Somerset on an old i phone. I am looking forward to doing more like this but on the new 5C. Low light, mistiness and phone camera is an unlikely combo. Feels a bit painterly.

An exclusive preview of my new card! ( New Year mail out)

I still enjoy selecting and sending out a new image. Since I have been doing a lot of photography recently with still life and nature I thought my new card should reflect that. Natural forms provide so many opportunities but when they are isolated and treated in a thoughtful way they can transcend the obvious. That is what I have tried to do.

This image is from an ongoing series I started a few years ago entitled "Photoforms" The aim was to capture light in a pure and simple form and create shapes and compositions using light boxes and various masks. I find it interesting to return to past projects or ideas and see how they progress some time later through fresh eyes. Hopefully in the next few months I will return to do more.

I went to see a Lygia Pape exhibition at Serpentine Gallery in 2011. She was a Brazilian artist and part of the Concrete and Neo Concrete movement in 1950's and 60's. I was struck by her use of geometry and often by the simplicity of the work. I was happy to see a parallel (no pun intended) with my work above and her installation Tteia.

On the poppy theme I remembered years ago in Spain I photographed some wild poppies and other flowers. It's always fun to look through archives and find forgotten images.

It seemed appropriate on Poppy Day to add some flowers. These were shot in a field in Dorset in August for Red and Yellow Care commissioned by agency Honey. An antidote to a damp, grey day in London.

Last week I was back in the darkroom at Photofusion in Brixton getting my hands wet (health and safety alert!) showing my daughter the traditional methods. We did some straight prints and then at the end of the session did some photograms together.

I have always enjoyed using coloured gels in my work. Here I decided to mutilate a few scraps that were lying around and add some heat.
